Decadence...

A kid in the morbid and almost in ruins classroom of his abandoned school in a remote and mountainous village of Greece.
The young population, fed up with misery and hard working conditions but, also bitterly disapointed by the indifferance and neglect of gonvernmental policy, have gradually evacuated those villages seeking a better fortune in the big cities...

I like the balance of the composition.
The lad looks isolated but determined.
Even the floorboards seem to sink under the weight of neglect.

A very sorry tale, and so sad that the young people are wanting [having] to leave their home villages to seek a 'better' life in the cities.
When will the powers that be learn that it is better for all if these small places are kept 'alive' ........for the good of all.
Here in the UK there are numerous village schools being closed, most of the rural post offices [ which were also the local shop] have been closed. The public houses are shutting down........and all these things contribute to the 'death' of small villages.
Life in the big cities is not ALL that it is cracked up to be..........

An excellent picture that well conveys the sadness of such places.
