Chinatown Yaowarat.
The land on which the royal palace now stands was originally the land of Chinese traders.
The Bangkok Chinatown district emerged from this place. Today's "Sampaeng Lane", which is so narrow that you are almost crushed and hardly a car can drive on the road, was once the main street of Yaowarat.
It's always lively, chaotic and hectic there. There are many crowded streets with many small shops, Chinese food stalls, markets and small hotels.
Incredible to see it.
It wasn't until around 1900 that Yaowarat Road became Chinatown's main street.

Ich bin früher immer sehr gerne durch die Sampaeng Lane gegangen, man konnte so manches Schnäppchen machen und abseits in den Gassen zum Fluss hin auch noch gut und preiswert chinesisch essen und bis nach Little India war es nicht mehr weit. Den Nachtmarkt auf der Yaowarat Road möchte ich mir nicht mehr antun, dieses Gedränge ist schlimmer als in der Sampaeng Lane am Tag und das angebotene Zeug ist fast ausnahmslos aus China. Dann lieber 2 Stunden Flug und ich bin in Kunming und da ist das Zeug noch billiger, das Gedränge aber deutlich weniger. Am Tag ist die Yaowarat Rd. mit ihren kleinen Seitengassen recht fotogen.Ansonsten lieber zum PratuNam Markt, da kann man dann auch noch den Erwan Schrein, das CentralWorld und den Baiyoke Tower mitnehmen.
