Repair for a contax 3 (germany/europe)

does RF CONTAX III? It may be Lubricating oil problem.You must using cold types.
In the past like Korea War most of journalist's Contax do not work since Korea very cold and jam .So they are changeing to nikon.

Scratches?

The other way the film can be scratched is in camera, either when winding on or re-winding, although this would normally show as continuous scratching, have you checked the mechanism of the camera, the parts where the film would be resting against while you rewind, it is possible for some of the protective felt to have come off or even some tiny piece of film/dust/dirt to stick on, which might give a rough edge.

I' ve just checked the latest issue of the british publication " Black & White Photography " in the classified section.
There is an advertisement from
www.silverprint.co.uk ( Valentine Place, London SE 8QH ).
Maybe they sell what you are looking for.

I was suprised, that there are plenty of ad's form labs all around in the UK, but at first glance, just one ad from London.

BTW : I started to be a regular reader of the above mentioned publication two years ago and I can recomend it because of their passionate dedication to black & white photography , both digital and analogue.

Vivienne, the most basic way to copy a slide is to use a piece of smoked or frosted glass, fixing the slide to it, let natural light through, and copy with your digital camera, if it can focus that close. Even if it does not, you can crop away what you don't need. If you always do this in the same place, maybe your bedroom window, you end up with exposure data that you can use all the time.
An alternative to frosted glass is thin architectural drawing sheets. You need to cut out any glare from clear glass.

I realise that this is an old post but wondered if you would be interested in AGFA Signum CN 310 glossy 8x10. I have 800 sheets and AGFA Signum CN312 matt 9.5 x 12.5 100 sheets from a photography shop clearance.

also Andy following the very good explanation by don, remember that you can also change the development of your film and expand the tonal range. If you meter in the shadow (actually somewhere around 4) shift the zone 5(average reading) to give 1 stop less exposure and do 25% longer development you will gain more grays and keep the black and white. This will happen in other places on this site as well .... it goes like this, someone references a picture (theirs or someone elses) and then at some point the picture is deleted. You are left with the original text but not the reference picture.

info on scanning slides at home?

Like Bora, I use an Epson 4490 for scanning slides, negatives, and prints. It works well with XP, Vista, Linux, and Mac; and scans documents as well. I'd be lost without it!
