I think the focus is great, the timing is a touch off, and would loved to have seen the childs face.The foreground is a bit distracting on the left hand side..I may have cropped a little tighter to the subject.
Other than that nice shot.

for me the timing is very good : now the wave is still far enough to look 'big' in comparison with the little boy, if you wait longer the wave will of course come closer and seem less 'big'. a bit more white in the wave would have been better, but that you don't have any control over......greetz,

I think in this case, Lerryn should have waited for the big one. This is a good shot, because the boy is focused, and is in anticipation of being overwhelmed; but It would have been vastly improved if the wave as actually breaking over his head, perhaps making him outlined "inside" the wave.Then, there is the issue of the wave. This is a nice body surfing wave for a kid, but if you want to see BIG WAVES, check out the North Shore of Hawaii.
