Stupa in Karakorum
The Golden Stupa in Erdene Zuu Monastery complex in the ancient historical Mongolian capital of Karakorum.
In 1937, the entire Erdene Zuu Monastery and Golden Stupa fell victim to the Stalinist purges under the communist commander Khorloogiin Choibalsan.
Rebuilt and reconstructed by foreign, among other many German and French, archaeologists.
