Ruddy Darter (female)
My picture shows a recently emerged female ruddy darter, a dragonfly-species that can be found in temperate regions throughout Europe, as far east as Siberia and as far south as the northern Sahara.
The ruddy darter has a huge colour distinction between the male which is strong vivid red, while the female is colored yellow.
Dutch name : Bloedrode heidelibel (wijfje)
German name : Blutrote Heidelibelle (weibchen)
Latin name : Sympetrum sanguineum (feminam)
