Monks group at river Khwae Yai
A group of Thai and Burmese monks visiting the famouse bridge of River Khwae at Kanchanaburi province.
The Burmese monks, collectively known as the sangha, are venerated members of Burmese society. Among the monks are many ethnic groups in Burma including the Bamar and Shan, Theravada Buddhism is practiced in conjunction with the worship of nats, which are spirits who can intercede in worldly affairs.
