Balinese gamelan was developed as solemn religious purposes, like warding off evil spirits or preparing worshippers to enter a state of trance. In fact, the beats in Balinese gamelan can be used as cues to inhalation and exhalation to induce a meditative state.

      danke Inlona, doch noch interessanter ist es, mitzuspielen. Ich durfte bereits mehrmals als Teilnehmer an einem Metallophon, einem balinesischen Gendèr, mitspielen, nachdem man mich eingeübt hat. Der Stuttgarter Musiker Eberhard Schoener ist ein Meister der Gamelan Musik (Bali Agung von 1976). Gruß Wolfgang
