The tent served as equipment storage for the group that ran the glacier tours. Two hours after taking this picture my wife and eye were downing beer at a pub in Juneau.

I wish it was more dramatic (the picture sure is.) Thanks to everyone for their comments.

    Dear Bruce
I think I could take the 3 hours. but the thought of sleeping in a tent there doesnt agree with me :-)

Welcome Bruce this is one place I would like to see Alaska. Please send us some more of your exciting trip. This looks so impressive but I don't think I would be brave enough to stand there even though I've walked on glaciers in Canada.Cheers from Down Under.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm very excited about finding this web site.

The glacier picture was taken about 20 miles from Juneau, Alaska, It was a side trip while on a 2 week cruise to Alaska.

We were ferried to the Mendenhall Glacier by helicoper and spent three hours with a guide learning to use crampons, ice axes and moving around a truely unique landscape.
