a simple portrait

I knew there are fine lenses that are able to create a fine DOF and also blur a big part of the image. Since I do not have such a lens I tried to recreate this in PS. I would be glad to find out your thoughts. In English :)

it's a very nice portrait but I preferre it without that PS manipulation...

sorra virgil ... i have to break out of the line - i think (but this is only one opinion), i think you messed a beautyful shot up by playing around with that softener ...

the first look to a photo like that moves to the eyes. those are right in focus ...

next we want to explore the photo by moving alont the depth of field ... and in this special case you see that there is something wrong or "unnatural" at once ... the mouth and the eyes are on the same layer ... therefore they should have the same sharpness ...
the change on the cheeks from sharp to unsharp is to rough too ...

you could archieve a unsharp nose by using a wide open lense, but who would do that?

in my opinon this would be a very good shot without that photoshop-depth-of-field-game ...

would like to see it that way ...

Elaine, Paul: The reason of theselective focus is to emphasize the eyes. The way someone looks at us can tell quite a lot about personality, mood, character, etc. I therefore exaggerated a bit.
