...yes..the silence is characteristic for those landscapes...Long ago I was in the desert south of Lima, only sand and dunes, really big ones - and the absolute absence of any noise: no insects, no birds...nothing! It's like being in another world....first it's a little frightening, but soon you get used to it and you calm down...I loved it to be there.
