Nikon D200 and 17-55mm f/2.8 DX Lens

I was an active member for a good while, so please let this post stay a while.

For Sale.

Wouldn't let me put it in the marketplace since I'm not a member anymore, but am selling my Nikon D200 along with a Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8 DX lens for $2000 obo.
The gear is in excellent condition and I just got the camera back from Nikon who did a once over and cleaned it and returned it like new. It works just great with no glitches and no cosmetic scratches.
The lens is in excellent condition with one small cosmetic scratch on casing. The glass is totally clean with a Hoya UV filter that went on as soon as it came out of the box.
I am currently working another internship in Pennsylvania and have gear provided. I have all original boxes back in Utah and can have them shipped to me before sending the gear to the buyer.
I can email photos to anyone interested.

Higher aperture range than specified?

Olli's link is thorough. To boil it down into a few sentences:

The aperture rating of a lens is the largest size it will be at the extremes of it's mm range. Therefore at 18mm it's largest opening will be f/3.5 and at 55mm it's largest opening will be f/5.6. The smallest aperture rating of a lens is typically not quoted in commercial settings (eg. f/32).

In the world of aperture - the smaller the f number the larger the size of the hole (aperture) the light will go through via the lens. The larger the aperture (the smaller the f number), the less duration the shutter needs to be open to take a picture .... the less duration a shutter needs to be open, the more likely the shot will be stable and not blurred.

Read the full Wikipedia article, it talks about all the additonal factors which come into play.......
