Der Legende nach wurde der Kopf von einer Buddha-Statue abgeschlagen, als die Burmesen im 16. Jahrhundert nach 15 monatiger Belagerung die alte Kaiserstadt Ayutthaya eingenommen hatten.An einen Baum gelehnt wurde er von den Wurzeln liebevoll eingerahmt.
Nach dem der Seehafen verlandet war, wurde Bangkok die neue Kaiserstadt.
