Watch vendor shop in Herat
It always was a great experience to discover shops like this during my walk through the streets in Herat. It seems that this man was selling smuggled watches, his shop just opened sporadically.
Please bear in mind that all these pictures are scans of old slides, and not all of them are in good condition. After this long time, some slides lost their natural colors. These pictures should give you an impression of that wonderful town.

danke Georg, als ich 1971 das erste Mal Afghanistan bereiste, habe ich das Land und die Menschen in mein Herz eingeschlossen, das Gefühl von damals kann ich nicht wiedergeben.
