This hoverfly looks similar to the Syrphus ribesii (Große Schwebfliege), which is a common hoverfly in Central Europe. The blossom reminds me of the Philadelphus shrubs, which we have in our garden. Not all of the insects are different between America and Europe.Warm regards Bernd
