I have to agree though, this photographer has some very good surfing photos in his collection.
I think 'Salsa Brava' above is better than this one although it is nice and she IS a pretty girl :-)

the picture was taken from a small boat,
i paid the driver some extra cash to get me as close to the waves as possible. i can tell you, that was a lot of cruising - i got seasick. you've got to love it...
used a 80-400 lens with image stabilizer, a tripod was worthless because of the waves.
