Startingpoint Darchen, 4520m

Darchen is really not much more than a tent settlement with only a few permanent buildings, it has traditionally been an important center for wool trade.This is the site where the original old flagpole (a darchen is a flagpole for prayer flags) of Darchen was located.
I's the starting point for some trekking ways nit only the common Kora. Some other tracks starts from this lackluster village like to the worth seeing Gompa the Gyangdak Monastery, 4970m.

Hallo Wolfgang, dies Bild stammt doch aus 2004, richtig? Bereits in 2010 hat die chinesische Regierung diverse "Reihenhäuser " hingebaut. Da wo du gestanden hast, steht heute ein Billard Tisch:

Ürigens wenn man nicht links am Berg vorbei die Umrundung läuft, sondern geradaus hoch, dann hat man einen majestätischen und wohl schönsten Blick auf den Mt Kailash. Man kommt ihm hier auch am nächsten. Bei der Umrundung befindet man sich immer irgendwie in einem Nachbartal (so mein Empfinden). Daher empfehle ich jedem der ein paar Tage übrig hat, direkt gerade hoch zu laufen (1-Tagestour). Dort ist dann auch eine Stupa und ein kleines Kloster. Auf diesem Abschnitt, den sehr wenige gehen, ist ja dann auch diese Bild entstanden:
