  I met the estate worker who cuts these trees - while i was taking these pictures.
  I explained to him that in my opinion - his "pollarded" willows were a work of art.
  He tries to cut them every year - to get the red colour.
  
  I was already aware that the willows in this village were the subject of the local Northumbrian artist , peter podmore.
