Life in the desert

A primitive Tunisian village in the Sahara desert

Spread in the Sahara desert are many villages with people living in apalling primitive conditions ignoring even the leaders of their government in exactly the same way as they are themselves completely ignored by them....
In the photo one of them.

an image with a very surreal, even "extraterrestrial" feel to it, probably due to the light, the raw and otherworldly looking homes, the somewhat lonely constellation of people looking as though they just dropped down from the sky and are now hovering an inch above the foreign ground of a terra incognita, like atoms missing their nuclei. the way you describe their attitude: it moves me, and has me think of a poem by robert frost: "desert places"… greetings, sabine.

A primitive village, indeed. But a gem of a photo. The person in the middle makes for a special effect, fine contrast to the one in the shadow on the right.

an excellent image of this forlorn village ... so barren the surroundings, no plants, no water ... a difficult life indeed !!
    greetings, Adele

I hate my government imposing their ways and ides on me... and so if such people as these are content with their lot, what right has anyone else to try to change them......
