Granada. Fuente de los Leones in The Alhambra
These marvellous beasts have stood guard in the Patio de los Leones since the 14th Century. They and the fountain originally were painted and gilded, but non the less impossing for the lack of it. I have been fascinated by them since I first read about them, but the beasts were much more disarming in the "flesh". While we were here, a blind man was lead out to read the lion's faces. He looked like I felt!
