Christmas Eve Enchantment

Two children on a Christmas Eve, immersed in the Christmas display at Pete's Tavern.

I don't know their names, but I decided to call them Jim and Della, after two
favorite (adult) characters on Christmas Eve in O Henry's "The Gift of the Magi."

As Pete's Tavern was a favorite haunt of the writer in Manhattan, I'd like to think that perhaps Jim and Della
and their story of mutual sacrifice and giving were sketched out at a favorite table on such an inviting evening
as this one, as the writer enjoyed a convivial pint while awaiting a steak or chop.
