Unsere Rundgang in Rom war geprägt von vielen historischen Stätten, aber das Kolosseum in Rom war schon das Highlight. Das größte Amphitheater wurde zwischen 72 und 80 n. Chr. erbaut und diente als Austragungsort zumeist höchst grausamer und brutaler Veranstaltungen. Seit 1999 ist es ein Monument gegen die Todesstrafe, d.h. immer wenn ein Todesurteil ausgesetzt wird oder ein Staat dieser Welt die Todesstrafe abschafft, wird das Kolosseum 48 Stunden lang in bunten Farben angestrahlt.
Our tour of Rome was characterised by many historical sites, but the Colosseum in Rome was the highlight. The largest amphitheatre was built between 72 and 80 AD and served as the venue for mostly extremely cruel and brutal events. Since 1999, it has been a monument against the death penalty, i.e. whenever a death sentence is suspended or a country in the world abolishes the death penalty, the Colosseum is illuminated in bright colours for 48 hours.
