this is my cousin at her ballet lessons, I put the contrast right up and cut away all the background.

To let loosely flow, and get mixed with the back, the main subject of a picture, requires certain knowledge. I don't know if you've got it or this just happened by luck, but the whole photo "exhales" perfection! See paintings of the legendary Degas, you will get lots of new ideas for your work. Think you whent a bit strong on the brightness, your picture does not show perfect black, something a black and white photo should almost always have alongside with perfect white. And maybe you should try to just soften out the outlines a little bit so that it loses the cutout feel. Otherwise it's a great composition that would look nice in a frame.
