Erstaunlich: Kuqa ist eine Oasenstadt am Gebirgabhang. 50 km davon entfernt und knapp 100 m tiefer beginnt die Taklamakan-Wüste. Flüsse, die in die Taklamakan-Wüste fliessen, versickern in dieser.
