Illinois has about 76.000 farms covering nearly 80% of the state´s total land area. Most farm acreage is dedicated to grain, mainly corn and soybeans. No wonder that you will see a lot of impressive grain storage facilities, made of concrete or corrugated steel like this on.
Etwa 76.000 Farmen erwirtschaften auf 80% der Fläche des Bundesstaates Illinois rund 9 Milliarden US-Dollar pro Jahr, hauptsächlich durch Getreideanbau (Mais und Sojabohne). Kein Wunder also, wenn einem auf der Fahrt mitten durchs Land immer wieder solch riesige Siloanlagen begegnen.

Terrific photo Matthias. Your capture of the beautiful clouds that are so common in the U.S. midwest is terrific. I also like the grain silos which make a great contrast with the clouds.Jim
