About me

I'm a digital photographer and use the Canon 5D Mark III.

In my past life, I taught university mathematics and owned a small company that provided database design and programming services to large corporations and medium size businesses.

My photographic interests include everything. Past and continuing projects include the study of ghost towns, all things old, motion studies and abstracts of the designs of naturally occuring processes.

Currently I dedicate most of my time to travel and photography and the digital darkroom.

Jim, you are a passionate photographer and a fine artist.
Your portefolio gives a subtle glance you see points in human themes. Wish you good luck in your new approach.
Thanks for your comment, concerning Olya.

Thanks Jim for your attention to this portrait, it means a lot to me.

It’s authentic street. At that time, in 2006, memorycards were still really expensive, so it’s jpg, not raw. I like this potrait, because of the hat and the innocent feel it has. Hats seems not to be in fashion any more. What a shame, today it’s shoes and bags. A hat can make a beautiful woman even more pretty. A hat will emphasize, a scarf or a cloth wrapped around 2-3 times is only a disguise : )

    Thanks Jim,
how nice of you. Yes, I agree. Using a particular effect, make sure it will emphasize your work. Some say that a bad picture can be ‘salvaged’ by a good effect. Wrong.

Yes, its true about the math. The Danish high-school is 3 years. She in the last year class. Calculus, Differential eq are in the curriculum. It’s her pet subject. Why-, because there is one and only one right answer to the quizzes : )

Thomas - I left comments on two of your Mermaids photos. I really like what you've done using textures. I think you understand that for portraits the texturing should be subtle so as to not draw attention from the subject but enhance the overall presentation.

I'm impressed that she is studying advanced mathematics. Differential equations can be a difficult subject for many as I know from teaching the subject.

    Dear Jim,
I would so much like to know what you think about this one.
Clearly it is inspired by your series from Iceland. I ought to have said thanks.
The posibility showed up when I found a bunch of grunge backgrounds on my archive drive. Why nor put them in front instead, and make them transparent with multiply. I really got myself a surprise! That was all it took.
Indeed this one is my grandchild. Today she is struggling with differential equations and all.
    Greetings, Thomas

    Dear Jim,
thank you so much for the analytic approach to this picture. You are truly gifted in this department too. You are right about every observation. I just wasn’t aware of it. This was very much on my mind that day. Children grown up, not as much contact as you would like, etc..

They say that making pictures has some therapeutic benefits.
    Greetings, Thomas

Thanks Jim for your nice comments. It means a lot. The square root of minus one divided by the square root of minus one, equals one. Can one argue against that? So, two wrongs make one right, sometimes : ) I checked your website. awesome.
    Greetings, Thomas
