Once a Corner Grocery Store (3)

still a corner grocery store (on 12th Avenue)

before supermarkets Vancouver had many, many little corner grocery stores in every neighbourhood (the entrance door being on the corner) .... some still remain, but many have been converted to other stores, cafes, art galleries and living quarters - I love them as they take away from the impersonality of the big stores.

Lovely and colorful corner having survived the...tsunami of the big supermarkets!.Even the various posters on the yellow wall are aesthetically accepted..

Adele - I think some of the most interesting and important photos are made within walking distance of the photographer's home.

This photo declares that "this is my neighborhood" and draws the viewer into the scene. A big plus is that great bicycle which reinforces the idea of neighborhood.

I remember the ones in my chilhood .Now there are supermakets instead :-) The old timer nicely presented Adele.

it's probably struggling but sturdily standing its ground – great to see that some of the written-off "has beens" still survive and happily ARE! ; ) nice, how the contemporary ad plates on the wall – e.g. miley cyrus! – look just as nostalgically pleasant as the little store itself! niceley captured in gorgous spring light, adele! love the flower-embellished bike they put up up for decoration on the green! hugs, sabine.
