About me
After many in Corporate Finance, I have recently changed direction. I am now dedicating most of my time to photography and I am also exploring opportunities in the field of ceramic art. In the summer of 2006 we moved to beautiful Sussex. Why did I start taking pictures: because of what I see. I probably have some catching up to do on the technical side and will be looking into courses and into complementing my equipment.
My favourites themes: landscapes, gardens, colour, live Jazz, people and the small things that are often overlooked. For me, pictures are a way to communicate with people and entertain them: not with trivia, but with something that makes them look twice and triggers a thought, memory or emotion.
I have been an analogue Nikon man. In the future I will spend more time with digital equipment.

Hi Alex,DOF=Depth Of Field. It depends from the lens aperture and it is used to defocuse or not the BG.
For example, at f2.8 less DOF, at f16 more DOF.
For images like that of the tailor you have to use less DOF for defocusing the BG and improve the attention and the impact only on the subject.
