Waterloo
Today, June 18 2015, it is exactly 200 years since the French army of emperor Napoleon Bonaparte was defeated at Waterloo by British, Belgian, Dutch and Prussians allied armies.
The Battle of Waterloo marked the end of the domination of France in Europe after 20 years of bloody conflicts.
Since 1826, the site of the battlefield is dominated by a large conical artificial hill (43 meters in height), constructed from earth coming from the battlefield itself.
The hill is surmounted by a statue of a lion as a symbol of the allied victory.

Danke für diese Erinnerung.Ich war dort - als Teilnehmerin in meiner Rolle als Regiments-Piper der Gordons.
Die Eindrücke sind immer noch so unfassbar...
