The Bird Knows ...

The Bird Knows ...

The beauteous fancy of flight in the freshness of clouds,
is a dream.
The bird in its cage,
beholds the color and beauty of image of the garden.
The bird knows,
that the wind is breathless
and the garden is an image.
The bird in its cage,
DREAMS

**Poem by: Hushang Ebtehaj** , Persian contemporary poet.

wow, this is such a beautiful symbiosis between image and words, sepideh!! and thank you so much for introducing me to the powerful poetry of hushang ebtehaj and his melancholy and bitter-sweet lines about the bird in captivity who senses the dangers of the outside world, perceives the garden outside as an image and yet in his dreams allows himself to transcend the bars of comfort, to enter the image, to go even beyond the image and leave the sluggish safety of the cage behind to feel the breathlessness of the wind, be breathless himself, restless, forever hungry and in peril but free – in his dreams… prisoner of the heart! knowing and bearing is so much harder than not knowing… – – love the doubtful little wink the desperate little dreamer ; )) is giving us, while looking down at an abundance of food, and how he looks "almost free" with no visible bars or fence around him and a hint of the city and its dangers (cars, for example! ; ) in the back! hugs, sabine. p.s.: when i read the "the bird knows", its mood made me think of rilke's "the panther" once again. have quoted it many times before. too bad it's in german! ; )) found a nice little "translation project" on youtube, though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rRV6L5YFJY

A beautiful image of this pretty little bird - together with the background of cars your image tells a story, and the beautiful words of your poet fit so well. Nice one, Sepideh !!!
    greetings, Adele

    Salam Sepideh,
Though I am not a bird, I know that this is a very good photograph.
With the cars parked in the background, I suspect that the picture was taken in a (your) city?
    Best wishes - A.
