Summer Sun, Summer Rain

As the drums beat to call me home,
From a long hot summer day.
Our stomachs ache for the bread mama makes,
Our mouths water for the sweet coconut juice,
As we crush the grass beneath our feet,
The road becomes a cipher.
It guides our path at night.

As summer sun sets upon our heads,
We run home to mama.
The summer sun will not let us arrive quickly enough.
The animals protect us with their eyes,
As we frolic in the river and make jolly by the bank,
Catching flies with rocks as we watch the flowers bloom.

As we sit under the summer sun with mama,
The summer rain begins to fall upon our heads like warm tears.
Our daily provisions begin to grow beneath nature's drops and rays
The summer sun gives us our hope.
The summer rain is our inspiration.
On this we do rely.
