Here one can see on the roof , the "mukarnas"another prominent characteristic of islamic design which has reached a high degree of evolution and aesthetic completion at the time of Safafides in Persia and this is why in that country one can fully admire them almost in all mosques. Of course, mukarnas designed by contemporary artists cannot reach the level of old experts but they are nicely presented in your picture, Adele.best regards alexander
