Der „Schwalmtaldom“, wie der Volksmund die neugotische Pfarrkirche St. Michael in Waldniel nennt, wurde in den Jahren 1879 bis 1883 erbaut und liegt unmittelbar am historischen Marktplatz im Ortskern.
