Auf einem Platz nahe der Innenstadt befindet sich die Skulptur "Das rote Pferd" des Bottroper Künstlers Johann Hinger. Die 8 Meter hohe und 13 Tonnen schwere Stahlplastik erinnert an die Bedeutung des Pferdes für die Stadt. Bis heute wird immer noch einmal im Jahr der traditionelle Pferdemarkt veranstaltet.
