O Copa - The Copa - Copacabana Palace Hotel / Series: Architecture in Rio.
The famous Copacabana Palace Hotel by Atlantica Avenue in front of Copacabana Beach, was built in 1923. Still now is considerede the most luxurious hotel of Latin America (by the Official Hotel Guide).
The architect Joseph Gire was inspired by other two luxurious hotels: The Negresco in Nice and the Carlton in Cannes. Was a property of the Guinle Family until 1989. Now it belongs to the Group Orient-Express Hotels, Trains & Cruises.
It has an area of 12.000 square meters of Copacabana district, one of the most expensive areas of Brazil.
