Nine Stone Close stone circle, Birchover, Derbyshire
Picture taken from Robin Hoods Stride - a gritstone crag 1/2 k away using the zoom on my mobile phone. The crag seen from the stone circle looks like a wrinkled hippopotamus with two stubby ears. Yes i know theres now only four stones. The 4 remaining stones are the tallest in derbyshire - the largest is 2.1m high and 1.5m wide. ( figures taken from Aubrey Burls book - A guide to the stone circles of britian, ireland & brittany)
