Nur mal so für ornithologisch Interessierte: Das Portrait zeigt den "hellroten Ara" ( Ara macao) oder englisch "Scarlet Macaw". Er ist neben dem grünen Soldatenara eine Rarität in Costa Rica und konnte nur durch gezielte Schutzmaßnamen vor dem Aussterben in freier Wildbahn bewahrt werden. In Aufzuchtstationen wird versucht die Population weiter zu stabilisieren, aber durch Wildfänge (Haustiere) ist der Bestand immer noch gefährdet!VG Dieter
