Lake Urmia Iran - From Airplane
A Rocky Mountain by Lake Urmia - Iran.
Taken from a Swiss flight enroute Mumbai.
Lake Urmia is 140 km (87 miles) long, by 55 km (34 miles) wide and it will disappear completely within 16- 27yrs. Lake Urmia has been shrinking for a long time, with an annual evaporation rate of 0.6m to 1m (24 to 39 inches). As its deepest point is now approximately 16 m (52 ft) deep hence it will all be gone in 16-27 years.
