In Flanders fields (4)

The First World War (also known as 'the Great War') was the first international war on a global scale.
Millions of soldiers and civilians died in this terrible conflict that lasted from 1914 to 1918.
In Belgium, extremely heavy battles took place in Flanders fields, situated at the western front of the war.

Throughout the period 2014-2018 many commemorative ceremonies will take place over here in memory of those who fought and died for regaining freedom of our land.

I made a visit to Tyne Cot Cemetery and was very impressed.

***************************************************

With 11.956 white gravestones, Tyne Cot Cemetery is the largest British war cemetery in the world.
70% of all buried soldiers are unknown and the inscription on their graves reads : "known only to God"
Many soldiers who died were only 18 years old, always someone’s child…….

Tyne Cot Cemetery is located in Passendale (Belgium) on the battlefields where in 1917 one of the bloodiest battles of WWI took place.

Every war is a terrible time! Too many people (young men) lost their lifes. It's very good to remember.

Good use of the diagonal here along with good natural colours and top detail .. maybe I would have cloned out the shadow at the bottom :-)

Gut dokumentiert!
