Her Hand Reveals His Truth
Many times older people rest one hand on the other. What makes this picture is that the resting position shows two people: a husband and wife married 60 years. She took the last train out of Krakow. He survived 15 German death camps. She is positioning his hand to reveal the number given to him at Aushwitz, where he met Mengele and lived. Their hands reveal their lives, and I was honored to take this. A canvas of this portrait sits in the Wall of Tolerance at the Laredo Public Library.
