It is the clock of the tower of the castle of Castel San Niccolò in Tuscany; the very large size of the dial and the simplification of these particular watches is due to the fact that they were made so that the farmers could read the time even from a distance. Each hand makes four turns over a 24 hour period: it is the system born in the fourteenth century of the so-called "Italian time" for which the day is divided into four parts of six hours. In Tuscany there are 23 other examples of watches.

only six hours? That means a six-hour workday as well! I know a lot of people who would love this Italian time.Ralf Melchert 29/01/2021 9:34

Very beautiful illustration of a clock. However, it needs an explanation to read it. Kind regards Hansa
