Castle Rijkel (Belgium)
The castle of Rijkel in late gothic style is situated amidst vast orchards.
Since the early Middle Ages there was a comfortable farm on this spot owned by the Lords of Rijkel.
In the 16th century they started to see things bigger and the farm was rebuilt to a castle.
The dead of the last aristocratic resident in 1831 was the start of a dark period for the castle.
For one hundred years it was in decline and the complete furnishing disappeared.
In the seventies of last century, the castle was restored thoroughly.
