Ashland | Mural Walk |
Ashland, Wisconsin, is a small town at the shore of Lake Superior. Main Street business district is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Some years ago the idea came up to create something special for the community. They looked for artists to design murals, which depict the history of Ashland, once an important trading center to ship iron ore.
Today you can view more than a dozen beautiful painted murals along Main Street.
The "Store Front" mural was a two year project and was painted during summer 2002/2003.
It depicts historic buildings of the Ashland area, some are still present.

Die alte Geschäftsstraße von Ashland, eine der ältesten Städte in Wisconsin, ist als historischer Ort gelistet. Vor einigen Jahren entwickelte die Stadt die Idee, die alten Häuser mit Wandgemälden zu verschönern. Daraus entstand der "Mural Walk", ein Spazierweg durch die Stadt, der an mehr als 12 Wandgemälden, die die Geschichte der Stadt mit unterschiedlichen Themen abbildet, vorbeiführt.
