Unstable weather on this July day in 2000 made for the dramatic sunset that serves to set off the unmistakable form of
the Boeing 727-200, with its pugnacious, pointy snout, swept back wings, and huge double flaps, deployed for landing.

Her three JT-8D engines seem to be saying “THIS is how a jet is SUPPOSED to sound” as she thunders over Gravelly Point in her distinctive
nose-up attitude, her three-man crew lining her up for one of her “solid” arrivals on Runway 19 at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

A familiar sight over the Potomac for more than thirty years, a true pilot’s airliner, and the object
of affection and admiration for airplane lovers everywhere, this iconic aircraft is fondly remembered.

She was captured on high speed Fujichrome slide film in a Canon EOS-1 with L-Series 28-80mm lens.
