I must say though, I do wonder how many 1GB cards I can load onto it with one charge... That'd be rich.. batteries die half way through a download.
Was it the first time you loaded the battery?
Sometime you have to load them a few times before they take their full charge.

I can load about 12 Lexar 1 GB CF Cards onto the X-Drive
before batterie told me to charge.
I think thats very ok.
Working time should be something around 1,5- 2 h w/o charging.
And you get a car charger for a few euro....

Ruud, I bought it from a student who had only loaded 5 cards onto it, charged once. True too, I know him.
Ingo, I have a power inverter for in my car, I can use the 220v charger in that. Those inverters are very handy btw, cheap too, no need to buy special car chargers either.

I bought myself a sitecom MD050 with 30 GB today. Have not been able to test it yet but it was not too expensive € 144.
There are some little articles about portable storage devices in the german info section of fotocommunity: http://www.fotocommunity.de/info/Portab ... ge_Devices
But great number of the links there, lead to english sites...
I would suggest this units if you look for one:
IMO best units with monitor:
http://www.fotocommunity.de/info/Epson_P-2000
http://www.fotocommunity.de/info/JOBO_GIGA_Vu_PRO
Best unit without monitor:
http://www.fotocommunity.de/info/Compact_Drive_PD70X
(thats so far the fastest unit with the longest batterie life ~50GB download per AA batterie set)

The sitecom works perfectly.
i ve been away for some 1 1/2 week and used 8 gig of the total 30 available.
Must say its not the fastest in emptying the cards
512mb takes about a good 10 minutes but must say the built in accu works quite long so im quite happy with it.

I covered all bases now.
Not only did I get the X-drive, but I've bought a laptop too..
A pretty compact machine too, even better, it slides neatly into my Lowepro computrekker backpak.
