Can someone help with my confusion. Shooting b&w and using an orange filter. My information tells me I need to increase the exposure 1.5 stops to compensate. Most of my last film was over exposed. I am using a SLR -Minolta XG-M, and working my exposure from the internal light meter. Am I being stupid? If it is measuring the exposure through the filter, do I not need to make any adjustment?

Hi Simon, the info in itself is correct, using an orange filter would mean you have to compenate, however in case of using an slr which does the measuring trough the lens, this compensation is taken in consideration already, so there's no need to compensate anymore.
