still a grocery store and specializing in Italian foods :-) (Commercial Drive)

before supermarkets Vancouver had many, many little corner grocery stores in every neighbourhood (the entrance door being on the corner) .... some still remain, but many have been converted into other stores, cafes, art galleries and living quarters - I love them as they take away from the impersonality of the big stores...

Very strong colors in this one Adele. You get a real sense of the community from this photo. I love the graffiti at the left.

What I like here are the two middle east men sticking out like a sore thumb. Its like I'm seeing two camels at the corner. Canada is not so culturally off, but the wether can be so bitter that it forces other cultures to take extreme actions to combat the cold.

Now the pasta shop I love. What on the menu.

This storefront definitely has captured the neighborhoods lively spirit by serving Italian food, that is always hearty and good!
