I fully understand Sabine's reasonable puzzle about which labour poor Hercules is compelled to perform in this very nice pic of yours,Lawson!..A Nemean lion refers to forests, a nine headed hydra to water!..But, anyway let's talk about "sculpture's permission" in the same way as one of a poet!
    best regards alexander

... good strong cantrast adds great detail to this image of Hercules fishing in the pond...boy I'm glad they invented the rod and real, I don't think I could do any good with a club....

heroic hercules… i bet he's secretely irritated that he's having to perform this first labor, the clubbing/slaying of the nemean lion, without witnesses? ; ) it is the nemean lion's head jammed between his unrelentingly powerful and sinewy knees? the water had me puzzled at first… it makes one expect a nine-headed hydra instead… ; ) a very idyllic looking pond and an impressive sculpture! the b/w rendering suits the scene well – i especially like the way the foliage/ivy turned out in the image! greetings, sabine.
