Once a Corner Grocery Store (2)
now a Starbucks (on Commercial Drive)
before supermarkets Vancouver had many, many little corner grocery stores in every neighbourhood (the entrance door being on the corner) .... some still remain, but many have been converted to other stores, cafes, art galleries and living quarters - I love them as they take away from the impersonality of the big stores.

cities are losing their identities to corporations.

of all possible worlds?

starbucks taking over the old corner store… nope, we're not in kansas anymore but on commercial drive! ; ) but at least they preserved the beautiful old mosaic of the facade, so that one can still imagine what the old has-been grocery looked like… another great capture and documentary of placid and social city-life inexorably fading away… hugs, sabine.Mark Billiau. 03/04/2014 8:24

Ja, starbucks sieht man auch bei uns immer mehr! Die breite, durchsichtige Türe wirkt sehr einladend - und wenn einem dann noch Kaffeeduft in die Nase steigt, dann wird sicher mancher Kaffeeliebhaber schwach! Die Fassade mit den feinen und proper wirkenden Fliesen vermittelt (für mich) Sauberkeit...
