Paris Street Art 1 - Pachamama

Corner Goutte d’Or/ex-Boris Vian
The Goutte d'Or is a neighbourhood in Paris, located in the 18th arrondissement. The neighbourhood has large numbers of North African and sub-Saharan residents. It is known for its open-air market, le marché Dejean,
The artist painted a fence of 30 meters long for several weeks as a tribute to female figures related to symbols of power and protection. The mural, sponsored by the mayor of Paris, hopes for a better integration of women in the public space.
The central figure is Pachamama - which means 'mother earth' in the Quechua language of the Incas. She is the mother of the planet Earth, the World, Nature, space and time. Mother of all perceivable reality. Goddess benevolent and protective, that feeds us, breeds and sustains us. And it keeps us in balance and in harmony.
